Okupa Listening Sessions: Katayoun

Join us on Sunday May 4th, for a special listening session with Amsterdam-based DJ, radio host, and curator Katayoun, at Okupa Kitchen & Listening Bar.

Known for her deep dives into Iran’s rich sonic heritage, Katayoun has spent over a decade collecting and sharing rare sounds from her homeland through acclaimed radio projects like Female Vocalists from Iran and Beyond and Sonic Imaginaries on Kiosk Radio. Her style bridges Iranian soundscapes with global grooves—Latin, jazz, funk—and reflects a constant, boundary-pushing exploration of identity and sound.

Katayoun is also the founder of Disco Diaspora, a party series where music meets memory, video meets performance, and diaspora meets the dancefloor—all through feminist and decolonial lenses.
